Ruby Payne publishes article series, will host TEPSA ‘Lunch and Learn’

Ruby Payne will have a three-part series featured in Instructional Leader, a publication of the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association. Part 1 is titled “School Improvement Issues for High-Poverty Schools: Year 1” and is in the current issue. Instructional Leader is a subscription-based publication, but they were kind enough to let us reprint the excerpt below, which includes Ruby’s article in its entirety.

Payne will also host a “Lunch and Learn” webinar for TEPSA members on February 7 titled “School Improvement: Moving from Proficiency to Growth.” Because students from poverty typically come into school a couple of years academically behind their more affluent peers, strategies used must accelerate academic growth.
