Esther Cepeda reflects on her Framework training, Paul Tough’s new book, and the implications of recent research findings for students from poverty. “I think the most fundamental policy implication here is that though cognitive factors and academic preparation have been the focus , we now understand that making sure these young children know their numbers and colors, or learn to read a little better or spell a little better, isn’t enough,” said Gary Evans, a professor of human ecology at Cornell University, who co-authored the study with Stephen R.
