The second of a series of four articles, in podcast form, that address poverty is titled “Building Learning Structures Inside the Head.” This article, written by Ruby Payne, founder and president of aha! Process, discusses how teaching takes place outside the head but that true learning takes place inside the head. Thus, there is a need for mental structures to enable and empower the learning process. Although the articles in this podcast series were originally written for teachers, they may be helpful to those who are transitioning from being on welfare to joining the workforce.
