Author and educational speaker Ruby K. Payne, Ph.D., won an Independent Publisher’s (IPPY) award in the education category for her latest book, Emotional Poverty in All Demographics: How to Reduce Anger, Anxiety, and Violence in the Classroom. The book, published in 2018, was recognized as one of the top three independent books in educational commentary and theory.
Ruby K. Payne is the founder of aha! Process, an educational publishing company focused on producing resources related to poverty’s role in education and community sectors. Payne founded the company in 1996 and has worked for more than two decades to equip teachers and community leaders with the skills to tackle issues of economic class.
On winning the award, Payne says, “This award is verification that in the publishing world of professionals, the book and its information are considered significant and well-done. I hope the book gives practitioners a basic vocabulary, understanding, and strategies for addressing the emotional issues of students.”
Ruby’s other notable publishing achievements include her widely celebrated Bridges Out of Poverty and A Framework for Understanding Poverty.
The IPPY Awards, launched in 1996, aim to bring increased recognition to deserving titles published by independent authors and publishers.
