Bridges, the church, and the town square

Addressing the Challenges of Poverty national conference presentation spotlight

This workshop will focus on the role of the church as a transforming presence in the town square. Tim Rogers will consider a brief history of the church’s checkered past as a leading voice in social and cultural transformation and will facilitate a discussion about current strategies for implementing Bridges constructs in and through the church.

Learning objectives include:

Obtain an awareness of some historical trends in the church’s engagement with societal needs over the last 150 years.
Learn a few key theological principles that can drive a church’s engagement with society’s needs.
Gain exposure to one church’s approach to implementing Bridges constructs in and through its ministry.
