Carrie’s aha! moment

Her most memorable aha! moment came while working at Sunshine. “We were about to terminate a staff member for attendance when I thought about the concepts I learned at a Bridges Out of Poverty training. I asked the staff why he was always late. Turns out he didn’t have any transportation and had been walking over eight miles to work! He said his feet frequently hurt and he couldn’t walk as fast. Instead of terminating him, we erased his points and transferred him to another location less than half a mile from his home.”

Carrie’s passions

Carrie has a real passion for helping the underdogs in her community. She believes that everyone deserves a chance to be the best they can. In her work, she gets to see this every day by training people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to training for livable-wage jobs.

What does Carrie do for fun?

“I love to hang out with my family—husband, Jake, and three kids: Brady, Luke, and Zoe. We also have lots of animals, including three horses, one miniature donkey, four dogs, one cat, and a chicken! I love watching my boys play football and my daughter show horses.”
