Deb McDermed currently serves as master coach and consultant to Opportunity Alliance Nevada (OANV). She manages coaching development and leads projects for OANV at Northern Nevada Hopes, Crossroads Recovery Center, and Washoe County Social Services. Prior to OANV she served as director of community engagement for the Bridges to a Thriving Nevada Statewide Initiative. To date Deb has trained more than 5,000 individuals in the Bridges Out of Poverty constructs; designed programs to imbed this work in business, criminal justice, and social services; and co-led the work of Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World for community members struggling for sustainability. Additionally she designed follow-on curriculum in emotional resiliency, leadership, and financial stability and is currently developing a leader’s guide to assist organizations in managing economic diversity.
Prior to moving into community work, Debora was a Transformational Leadership consultant for Fortune 500 companies for more than 15 years. Her clients included IBM, AT&T, Hallmark, and others. Her specialty is in the field of human development and what fosters and sustains human change.
She devotes her time to building strong communities by building strong individuals from all walks of life. She is the author of the workshops Leading from the Heart and The Power of Thought.
Effective October 2013, Debora is Vice President of the National Board on Advancing Bridges, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to bringing national attention to the power of the Bridges model for ending poverty.
Debora holds an MBA and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, and she was ordained as an interfaith minister in May 2015.
She has been a licensed trainer in Miller Heiman’s sales performance tools as well as The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, mentored by the late Stephen R. Covey. Debora studied with Peter Senge and has consulted on systems thinking in many organizations. She is a certified Heart Math Coach, Financial Social Work trainer and uses the Sedona Method in helping individuals achieve their dreams.
She spent 10 years of her career with the IBM Corporation and 8 years with AT&T Wireless as a Regional VP of Sales and Marketing.
