The Golden Lamp Professional Development Award is the highest honor in educational books and materials, and it was recently awarded to Ruby Payne’s book A Framework For Understanding Poverty: A Cognitive Approach, 5th Edition. Ruby Payne was grateful for this honor from the American Association of Publishers in the category of Professional Development, which focuses on educational resources for educators and administrators. “We’re very happy,” said Payne, “that our message continues to help educators, social service agencies, employers and individuals better understand poverty and the barriers faced by under-resourced students and adults, so they can use those insights to help improve their communities.”
