Humphrey’s “War on Poverty”, and how that triggered an investigation on how the war has been going in the last fifty years. This takes her to read literature by none other than Ruby Payne, who helps her recognize that poverty is, “more than the lack of food, shelter and clothing, but ‘the extreme to which an individual does without resources such as financial, emotional, mental, spiritual, physical’.” Read more.
