The takeaway simply is this: Especially for those who are interested in working on public policy as it relates to poverty and improving opportunities for people across the country, there is an awful lot that people share in common in small-town America with people in large cities. We tend to think of poverty, or have for the last several decades thought of poverty, as being increasingly an urban problem and one that is intractable. That is simply not the case.
