Why etiquette? As technology continues to advance, we find ourselves moving toward a high-tech, low-touch society. And if we use etiquette, I like to encourage people to use etiquette as a glide path to help build and maintain those business relationships—and make sure that they’re authentic relationships—that we get to build with our customers, with our employees, and with the public.
Etiquette also is an opportunity for professionals across the board to share a specific set of core behaviors.
What I’m going to do now is go through a few of the tips and takeaways. We’re going to start with hosting. If you’re hosting an event, and it could be just a dinner for one person or a lunch with one person, your responsibility is to be in control of that moment.
