Achieving the Dream “Rolls out” at UCC (02/06/2013)

Big things are underway at Umpqua Community College, as the college’s “rolls out” party kicks off a campus-wide initiative to fight poverty. Participants at this event participated in a trivia game about issues of economic class, and others were given envelopes containing challenges they had to overcome. The obstacles were typical of the sort faced every day by students from poverty. “I would go without food for a couple of those days in order for my children to be fed,” one student said. Read more…
