Overview

Bridges to Health and Healthcare includes a continuum of policy and practice critical to improving health among people living in poverty, addressing both individual patient care and population health. The workshop dovetails the Bridges Out of Poverty concepts and tools with the growing body of health inequities research. Living with health issues is prevalent in poverty. These issues result in huge costs for communities, states, and the nation. Economic class often defines chronic health issues. To improve health care initiatives, the cost of living in poverty must be examined by health care providers

Research links overall health to economic stability, education, safe and affordable housing, nutrition/food security, and factors such as social coherence, social capital, and social cohesion. Meaningful learning tasks, direct teaching, videos, and large group dialogue are integrated into this workshop.

Bridges to Health and Healthcare includes an overview of Bridges Out of Poverty concepts and constructs.
