The language and words we use fit our personal understanding of our world and community. It is easy to assume that as we describe our experiences and ideas, our listeners will interpret them in the way we intend. Bridges Out of Poverty concepts and the Bridges framework help create a common knowledge that leads to cohesively sharing ideas, framing issues, and creating solutions. Attendees will practice using Bridges concepts to reframe personal and common experiences with poverty.

Learning objectives include:

  • Become better equipped to advocate for Bridges Out of Poverty trainings in multiple sectors throughout your community.
  • Better understand how the interpretation of words used in poverty-reduction efforts influences adopted solutions.
  • Become more comfortable reframing how you talk about people living in poverty.
