Tactical Communication provides first responders with a greater understanding of how relationships, hidden rules, and language structures vary between the different socioeconomic areas of our community. This empowers emergency responders to adjust and adapt their approach, eliminate challenges, and avoid obstacles as they maneuver in and out of different environments, especially when serving under-resourced communities. The main goal is to strengthen the relationships between first responders and the community by improving communication and awareness while reducing conflict and complaints. Tactical Communication training is a particular complement to community policing initiatives.
Learning objectives include:
- Improve effectiveness of responders as they gain better understandings of language, hidden rules, and resources within the communities they serve.
- Avoid escalation of conflict, thus making a safer environment for responders and citizens.
- Reduce complaints from citizens toward responders, and avoid actions that tend to escalate conflict to dangerous levels. Tactical Communication can make the environment safer for citizens and responders.
