Sonia’s passion?

Building the resources people need to get ahead has become Sonia’s passion. As a professional woman breaking the cycle of generational poverty, Sonia has developed relationships that cross economic and racial boundaries, allowing her to be a driving force for systemic change in her community. Still living in the same neighborhood, Sonia challenges and gives hope to those around her while inspiring them to use their voices about their individual barriers to poverty. “I believe that every under-resourced individual deserves a chance to experience Getting Ahead. Everyone deserves to believe they have a future that can be different from today!”

Sonia’s best training

Tapping into her experience from Getting Ahead, Sonia is very proud to have created and implemented Staying Ahead in Troy. Staying Ahead is a long-term development program meant to reinforce Getting Ahead.

What does Sonia do for fun?

As a single parent to five beautiful girls, Sonia has worked hard to challenge the boundaries of generational poverty patterns for herself and her children. She has committed her life to assisting others in recognizing that they do have a choice and can be successful.
