Bridges Out of Poverty Helps in Rogers County, Oklahoma

The Bridges Out of Poverty and Getting Ahead programs have helped people from Rogers County, Oklahoma who live in poverty. This northeastern Oklahoma community, not far from Tulsa, has many members living in generational poverty without the knowledge or resources to escape it. Bridges Out of Poverty works to amend that. Diane Forst oversees the programs there and blogs about their efforts. She highlights the “tyranny of the moment” idea that makes it hard for the poor to change their situation: “People in poverty can only take care of today because tomorrow is too much to handle when today’s needs are not being met.”
