In collaboration with the Parry Sound District Social Services Administration Board, a new 15-week Bridges Out Of Poverty program just kicked off in Parry Sound, Ontario, a midsize rural Canadian community next to Lake Huron. The program is starting based on the great success and reception of last year’s Bridges Out Of Poverty event in Parry Sound: when less than 30 people were expected to show up, 128 came! “We knew the community was ready for more of this proactive approach to tackling poverty,” said Heather Murch of the Salvation Army and co-chair of the initiative.
