A recent Bridges Out Of Poverty workshop in Starkville, Mississippi educated about twenty members of the community about the causes, prevalence, and effects of generational poverty. With a poverty rate of 22.5%, Mississippi remains the poorest state in the country and requires creative thinking and solutions. Bobby Weatherly, host of this workshop, described it as, “It’s not so much teaching, as to say, ‘What are the questions in Starkville?’ What are the questions we should be asking?’ ”
