About Joanna Bowden

Joanna Bowden is a single mother of three sons and a grandmother who started her academic career at Baylor University and ended it (spanning many years) with a master’s degree in human health at Texas A&M University–Commerce, where she taught as a graduate assistant following her graduate assistantship in research. Joanna has had the privilege of living in each socioeconomic class and has gained insight along her path into the plight of different types of communities. As an amateur sociologist, Joanna writes about the hidden rules of social class as she comes across them. To add to her advocacy resume, she is also a volunteer doula, church secretary, and coalition member.
