Collectively, the co-authors of this book represent some 120 years of experience in education and healthcare leadership and participation. Two of the authors of this book are healthcare careerists with vast exposure to changes dubbed as “reform” initiated by the government, by researchers, and by healthcare professionals over the past 30 years. Some have created positive change, and some have not. This book is not about addressing the rightness or wrongness of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) of 2010. It is intended to add what we believe to be a necessary lens for effective change.

Do we dare to suggest that our model, Bridges to Health and Healthcare, is the only solution for you, the reader? No, of course we don’t. But we do believe that you will find our model elegantly practical in its construct, assumptions, and application.

All we ask is that, in the spirit of Indiana Jones and his search for the Holy Grail, you put our ideas to the test by taking a leap of faith and courage as together we seek a sturdy bridge to efficacious healthcare delivery.
