“‘Each one of the eight graduates was moved by the 10-week study, and each one left with concrete goals and plans for a better future,’ said Director Jan Geuy. ‘It was an amazing transformation and one I felt privileged to watch.’”
An article in the Sidney Daily News gives details about the first group to graduate from Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World at the Alpha Community Center in Sidney, Ohio. A grant to help fund the program was awarded by The Community Foundation of Sidney/Shelby County, for which Geuy expressed gratitude.
Partners in Hope of Troy, Ohio, sent aha! Process Consultant Sonia Holycross to train the Getting Ahead facilitators. Geuy said that training community center staff to facilitate Getting Ahead themselves “‘will not only save money, but will ensure that we have the skills among our staff and volunteers to continue offering Getting Ahead for the benefit of future investigators looking for a proven path to a better life.’”
