Motivation: How to Motivate Students to Increase Performance
Psychologists tell us that human beings are born with intrinsic motivation and natural tendencies to seek out challenges and opportunities to learn. These tendencies tend to operate robustly under certain conditions.

The conditions under which intrinsic motivation can thrive and grow will be discussed during this workshop. Participants will develop a clear framework for understanding motivation theory and developing strategies for building intrinsic motivation among students, with a special focus on motivating under-resourced students.

Participants will learn:
  • How students' backgrounds affect their motivation
  • How to use rewards productively to motivate students
  • How to develop individualized motivation plans to impact specific students
