NAESP recap
|
The annual National Association of Elementary School Principals conference in Nashville just
ended, and aha! was pleased to attend! As usual, the conference provided an energetic
environment for learning and connecting with others, and we were pleased to meet so many of you.
This year’s theme was Leadership and Learning for the Next Generation, a topic that is increasingly
a focus for aha!.
Jennifer Ratka presented Practicing Classroom Discipline Strategies through a Virtual Practicum.
aha! Consultant Jennifer Ratka introduced conference attendees to aha!’s virtual learning
environment, , which teachers can use to practice discipline strategies.
(See aha! Classroom Sim)
Attendees interact with the aha! Classroom Sim.
Her session led participants through the simulation program online, and discussed incorporating
similar tools into teacher training and professional development programs.
Back at the exhibitor’s booth, we found it particularly rewarding to hear from those of you using
aha! materials in your classrooms and schools. Like Cindy Wilson, Principal from Toledo, Ohio,
who said: "I couldn’t have made it without the knowledge I gained at the Ruby Payne Trainer
Certification Conference. I have so changed my attitude and how I relate to my parents and kids."
Cindy is pictured below with Jim Littlejohn, who presented key aspects from
A Framework for Understanding Poverty.

We look forward to seeing everyone next year in New Orleans!
