Addressing the Challenges of Poverty |
| Description: |
Addressing the Challenges of Poverty focuses on bringing all sectors together to build sustainability
in all aspects of communities: schools, higher education, businesses, and more. It is time for us to join forces.
Learn how to move your mission forward. Gain new ideas about funding your mission. Network with others
facing challenges similar to yours. Learn from your favorite national consultants, as well as experienced
practitioners. You can choose from a range of strands depending on your interest—K-12, Bridges, or higher
education. There is even a strand for those who are new to Bridges Out of Poverty.
Here's an event where you can collaborate, share your best practices, and build sustainable schools,
colleges, and communities.

Developing emotional resources in your clients, colleagues, and students |
| Description: |
Dr. Ruby Payne is presenting a 5-session online workshop that will help you better address emotional
issues, both personally and with others.
Emotional issues are erupting in schools, offices, everywhere and the understanding and tools to
address these issues are not generally available.
This work is a compilation of reading about 300 books on the subject and fine tuning the information
into a simple 10 step process that can be used to address the issue and move forward. Furthermore,
the information was vetted with a group of homeless individuals who provided invaluable suggestions.
- Identify the ten steps necessary to address an emotional issue
- Identify the questions and activities that are used at each step to work through the issue
- Identify the ways in which emotional responses are different for males and females and learn tools to deal with each
- Identify the reoccurring process of emotional loss and gain all throughout life and the predictors of when it will occur
- Establish the accountability markers to move beyond the emotional issue to the future
This information is very helpful for everyone, since we all work with people. Those working with
Getting Ahead graduates will greatly benefit since we are finding that graduates make progress in
transition, hit an emotional issue, and are derailed.

| Note: |
